We transplanted some gourds and watermelons yesterday and came in today to find an “all they can eat” buffet attended by roly-polys. On one of our transplants the leaves were completely gone, overwhelmed by a gang of roly-polys, and only a stub of a stem remained. We are employing pit traps, diatomaceous earth, and even brought in four chickens under a mobile cage (like a chicken tractor) to get them and turn them into eggs. Every time we go in the Grow Dome, we find dozens of roly-polys so hopefully we will be able to restore some balance so our crops can survive.
