Today we finished planting the milpa section of Parr Field with the 5th graders. When it was all done, we figured we planted with over 500 students and gave out 486 seed packets.
Now all the seeds are nestled in the soil and going through biological changes to make roots and shoots, coming out of a stored-seed slumber. We have a few surprises in this field such as some stalks of sorghum and some melons.
This is one of the most exciting times of the year, after the seeds are in the ground and while we wait in anticipation of their emergence!
